Douglas Churchill

Doug spent 29 years teaching in Glovertown. He finished his last year as Principal of the Glovertown High School. During his career he spent 12 years as a leader in Boy Scouts of Canada. Six of those years he was District Commissioner and Provincial Trainer. He was Alexander Bay Lions’ Citizen of the Year for 1988.

After retirement, he and his wife opened and operated the Lilac Inn Bed and Breakfast in Glovertown. During those 10 years, he became involved with various aspects of the Tourism Industry and held positions with: Kittiwake Economic Development Board, Kittiwake Coast Tourism Association, and Road to The Beaches Tourism Association. He also spent 3 years as a regional representative on the Rural Secretariat. He has been Chair of Glovertown Museum Association since 2003 and has held several executive positions with St Edward’s Church in Glovertown.

First elected to Glovertown Town Council in 2008, he served one term as Deputy Mayor. He was then elected as Mayor and is currently serving his third term in that position.

Doug and his wife Linda have been married for 53 years. They have three children: Andrea, Stewart and Stephen and three grandchildren: Charlie Cote, Sophie Cote and Sasha Churchill.
